Bioetanol

I want to write this article by English because this is one of my task in my English course. I'm learning English because my English written and speaking isn't fluent, so I want to learn and learn about English. If my written is so bad, I'm really sorry about this..
I just want to try to write some article in English. I'll do my best..

This article is about my research study with my lecture and my friend in Chemical Engineering Department, Sebelas Maret University..

The title is BIOETHANOL or specifically it's about INFLUENCE OF SUBSTRAT DEGREE AND CATALYST CONCENTRATION IN THE MAKING OF ETHANOL FROM SORGHUM (Sorghum bi color L. ) WITH SIMULTANEOUS SACCHARIFICATION REACTION (GLUKOAMILASE ENZYME) AND YEAST FERMENTATION (Saccharomyces cerevisiae)..

My lecture, Ir. Endah R.D., M.T., guided me and my friend, Himmah Sekar E.A.G., to make bioethanol enzymatically two years ago. Our research have been developed to analyze the influence of substrat degree and catalyst concentration in the making of ethanol. This research have been done for a year, but it can be developed with many variables and maybe many years to do it..

In this research, we used sorghum as raw material because it have some characteristic, such as dryness resistant, high salinity resistant, and water lodging resistant. Sorghum's harvest time is 4 months, it's more quick than sugar cane that have harvest time is 7 months. We used enzyme as catalyst because product of enzyme hydrolysis can controlled compare with other catalyst. In the production of ethanol, we did saccharafication and fermentation simultaneously, that process just need one reactor, so it had a little time, of course..

After we finished our research, we have a summary. Production of ethanol by simultaneous saccharification and fermentation of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moencl) use glukoamilae enzyme and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Simultaneous saccharification and fermentation is reaction of glucose and ethanol production conducted simultaneously ibidem. Time of simultaneous saccharification and fermentation is 72 hour at 35 oC by put 4 gr dry yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) and glukoamilase enzyme into fermentor with shaker speed is 200 rpm, after liquefaction during 1,5 hour at 95oC add 2 ml alpha-amilase enzyme to it. From this research, we have acquire the relationship of glucose concentration vs time, concentration of glucose is decrease gradually because it change to be ethanol. Based on this research, with variable of substrat degree is 10 % and 12 %, and variable of glukoamilase enzyme concentration is 1, 2, 4,and 8 ml, we have a conclusion that concentration of substrate is 12 % and concentration of glukoamilase enzyme is 8 ml, it achieve optimum condition..

That's our research, thanks for your attention..

Biogas

This article is about my summary of my final task "Build and design biogas power plant" that we have done for completing one of tasks in Automotive Mechanical Engineering Department, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta.

My final task had purpose for engineering power plant of biogas. The main fuel of starting motor to put in action the generator is biogas as subtituste of petrol fuel.

The modification that needed was done is changed over from standard carburetor to artificial carburetor in order to arrange comparison of air in and biogas far easier, besides necessary to change of ignition coil to enlarge the ignition and compression.

Inside of biogas contained of H2S and H2O that can shorten the age of machine so that H2S and H2O must deducible with washing. The washing used iron waste from lathe that is use as absorbent and silica gel as adsorbent.

The electricity that is produced by generator set is used as new electric source and as substitute from electricity of State Electricity Enterprise. It is 1000 watt with the total efficiency from combustion engine among 15%. The washing of biogas can absorbed 1,76 g H2S/hour and can adsorbed H2O 5 g/hour.
